Design and Display
Xiaomi Redmi 9A features a giant display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The 6.53 inch display having a resolution 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 269 ppi ensures clear image quality. Moreover, the waterdrop notch display has a wider and immersive aspect ratio of 20:9.
The design of the Redmi 9A smartphone is simple and classy. With Aura 360 design, it delivers an additional grip over the phone. Its bezel-less display allows you to better enjoy watching movies and increases gaming experience.
On the backside of the smartphone, you get a single rear camera set-up on the extreme top-left corner and a “Redmi” branding at the bottom. Furthermore, you do get a P2i nano coating that prevents the device from splashes and water spills.
Moving on, you get a loudspeaker, a micro USB port and a primary microphone at the bottom of the phone. On the top, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack for earphone connectivity. Next up, volume rockers, a power button on the left side and lastly, a dual SIM card plus memory card slot on the right side of the smartphone.
Cameras
Redmi 9A has a single 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 1.0 micrometer pixel size. On the front, a single 5MP front camera is mounted with f/2.2 aperture. The camera can capture decent pictures in broadlight however, the front camera is somewhat disappointing. Overall, the photos captured through the back camera are average.
Portrait mode is available on both rear and front cameras. It performs well on simpler objects. Moving on, you will have problems taking photos at night as there is no dedicated night mode. For better picture quality, you have to keep good lighting conditions.
Battery & Software
The 5000 mAh battery is the strongest point of this smartphone. If you are not a heavy user, you could get 2 days of backup very easily. However, it has a 10W charger while Redmi 8A comes with a 18W fast charger. So it will take almost 3 hours to charge a 5000 mAh battery fully with a 10W charger. It doesn’t support fast charging and there is a micro USB port for charging and data sharing purpose.
The Redmi 9A smartphone runs on the latest OS Android 10 based MIUI12 which is the best among all MIUI softwares with tons of features. Meanwhile, you are forced to see advertisements popping up everywhere repeatedly. The interface of the software is not neat and clean as there are many bloatwares and ads resulting in sluggishness while you are surfing across the apps.
Connectivity
Talking about connectivity, the Redmi 9A supports various 2G, 3G, 4G bands but the device is not 5G ready. The call quality is average and you may face call drop conditions sometimes. you do get Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n dual band and bluetooth V 5.0 with LE and A2DP. It has AGPS, BDS and Glonass navigation systems but it doesn’t offer much features like NFC, infrared port, fingerprint scanner etc.
Performance
For Redmi 9A Review, we have tested the smartphone thoroughly and talked to some of the users of the smartphone. Performance wise the smartphone is average. The Redmi 9A supports MediaTek Helio G25 processor which is not a beefy one but in the price range below 7K, you can not expect a beast performer. The processor of the smartphone is analog and it has an octa-core arrangement with a max 2.0GHz frequency. The device is available in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants along with 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage.
You will not have any problem with simple and day to day tasks on this smartphone like calling, texting, browsing the internet, watching YouTube videos etc. However, the device takes time in unlocking and switching into other apps. The device is not for intensive graphic driven gaming experiences like PUBG, Call of duty etc. It is advised to go with higher RAM options as that will fasten the app loading and performance.
Ratings
