Design and Build Quality
Vivo V21 is a premium mid range smartphone which looks beautiful in daylight. The smartphone offers an amazing hand-feel experience. The Vivo V21 looks very similar to its predecessor V20. The slim and sleek design gathers all attention and it makes it easy for fingers to hold on the device firmly.
The front of the phone has a U-shaped notch and the bezels are quite slim. Therefore, the gaming experience and accessing media files will be more comfortable.
The front of the phone is glass (obviously) and the back is plastic material with a glass feel to it. The matte finish saves the smartphone from smudges and fingerprint marks for sure. The Vivo branding at the back of the phone looks cool. The phone’s plastic frame is flattened, not curved and it gives better grip and usability.
Overall, the design of the phone looks and feels premium. V21 is the slimmest 5G smartphone available in the market.
Cameras- The USP of the Phone
Vivo V21 5G houses a triple camera setup that includes a 64MP primary snapper with f/1.8 aperture along with OIS technology. The secondary rear camera is a 8MP ultrawide snapper with f/2.2 aperture. Lastly, a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. There is no depth sensor in Vivo V21 5G. On the other side of the phone, there is a 44MP selfie shooter with AF, f/2.0 aperture with OIS technology.
The camera of the phone is undoubtedly superb. If we talk about the rear camera setup, the 64MP sensor retains the quality, colours, contrast and detailing in broad daylight shots. For low and minimal lighting conditions, there is a night mode on features which improves the colours, brightness, contrast, autofocus etc. for night shots.
The binned mode of the devices helps you click quality pictures without the usage of the tripod or pro mode. In the portrait mode, the primary camera detects the accurate edges and blurs the background impeccably. With the ultra wide angle shooter, you can capture ultrawide shots at 120 degrees with a little bit low quality as compared to its primary sensor. Moving on to Macro sensor, the 2MP macro sensor works very well.
Furthermore, you have a huge 44MP selfie shooter on the front of the phone. It is a wide angle camera so you can easily cover more people in a single frame. The OIS helps the users to capture videos without any jitters and you can record 4K videos @ 30fps easily. The selfie camera has an eye auto focus that tracks your eyes for focusing. For low lighting photography with the front camera, there is a dual spotlight feature.
Performance
The Vivo V21 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U (MT6873V) Octa core (2 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 + 6 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) processor based on Android 11. Further, the smartphone is backed by Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB/ 256GB (UFS 2.2) storage that is expandable up to 1TB.
The phone works very well and smooth in terms of day to day life activities like browsing, calling, texting, watching videos, using camera etc. The gaming experience in Vivo V21 is quite good, I have enjoyed playing free fire and BGMI games for nearly 2 hours. There are negligible lags and the device doesn’t heat so much like other cheap phones do.
Display and Battery
Vivo V21 5G flaunts a 6.44 inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 1080 x 2404 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 409 ppi. The refresh rate of the display is 90Hz which makes the display process and update information much faster.
The display ensures you provide the best viewing experience with different angles. You won’t face any problem reading news or viewing pictures in broad daylight. The display manages to produce vibrant colours and a good balance in different shades of the colours. The display also features an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The phone comes with a decent 4000 mAh battery and it has the ability to provide a whole day of backup with mix usage. The Vivo V21 5G sports the 33W flash charge that could charge your 63% in just 30 minutes. However, it takes more than an hour to charge the smartphone fully. The battery used in the device could have been larger.
Connectivity
Vivo V21 5G supports all kinds of networks in India, the phone is 5G ready which is a futuristic approach for the manufacturers as the Indian ISP companies are not yet 5G ready. You get Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth version 5.1 with LE and A2DP support, USB OTG, USB Type C 2.0. However, the device lacks NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also supports BDS, Galileo, Glonass, and A-GPS.
